Text Novel - Writing Experiment

If you are not familiar with Textnovel it is a site that allows a writer to post short stories, novels, and graphic novels so that readers of all ages can follow your stories online or on a mobile device.

Many of the writers post new chapters of their stories via hand held devices (texting them), which of course leaves something to be desired in the way of spelling. Tiny buttons getting pushed with over active fingers rushing to get those thoughts down.

I took the plunge and decided to try it out with my middle grade story The Witchwood Diaries: Salem Tree. So far it has been a kick in the pants (that is a good thing - well, it depends on where the kick is delivered). I've even received emails from mothers that tell me their kids love the story and want to know when more chapters will be coming. Gasp. I hit the floor. Someone is reading them? Okay, no pressure now.

There are a lot of sties out there that let you try your hand at flash fiction and text noveling (I know that's not a word - work with me). I have looked at many and I found that I enjoy Textnovel the best.

If you have a short story or want to try some chapters out on the general public and get feedback from young readers and other writers, why not give it a try. Sometimes it helps spawn new ideas and really gets those gears spinning.

Night after night, he terrorized my mother. Sneaking up on her and wrapping his spidery arms around her to squeeze all the air from her lungs. He struggled to strangle her, but then she turned and yanked the mask away from his face to reveal a hideous monster...

Want to read more? Want to give Text Novel a try? Click on the links above and have fun with it. Who knows where it could lead. The worst thing that could happen is that you get some of that awful writing out of your system. You can always delete it later.
